Very sad to hear that Dave has died and my thoughts and condolences are with you, Pat and Melanie and your family. Dave is a key figure in many of my fondest memories from childhood. He was a larger than life character who added so much to our family holidays caravanning together. Occasions which immediately come to mind include sunny, summer lunchtimes eating crab sandwiches at the Crab and Lobster pub in Sidlesham; sloe picking as we walked around the Pagham mudflats; and most vividly of all Dave's heroic rescue of us children as the tide swept in over the mudflats much faster than we expected.
